The Position
The Communications Officer is responsible for project managing, creating and producing inspiring and engaging content for our marketing and fundraising activities. This includes researching, writing and editing content for campaigns, appeals, direct mail, eDMs, web, case studies, events, partnership activations and advertising materials.
Duties include:
- Plan and implement compelling content plans for supporter and donor communications that engages and inspire existing and prospective supporters to take action
- Participate in and contribute to weekly content meetings
- Source and develop written content for fundraising appeals, donor newsletters, campaigns, eDMs, SMS, landing pages, etc to maximise lead generation, conversion, and ongoing retention and loyalty
- Research, write, interview and develop effective case studies and impact stories to clearly articulate our fundraising proposition and demonstrate the impact of our work for campaigns, appeals and cases for support
- Interpret research into compelling copy for media releases and engagement
- Prepare speaking notes for CEO for use at media launches and events
- Source and develop written content for internal newsletters
- Create original content for the website to support our SEO strategy
- Support social media monitoring as required
- Maintain and contribute to a healthy work culture
- Provide accurate and timely information for the Line Manager and other reporting requirements
- Undertake regular one on one meetings with the Line Manager to ensure information/ knowledge is shared
- Undertake other duties within the employee's training, skills and experience as directed by the line manager
You bring to the role:
- Tertiary qualification in communications, PR, or marketing, or similar experience working in these areas for a professional organisation
- Minimum three years' experience in a similar role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and strong writing skills including good grammar, spelling and proof-reading abilities
- Proven experience in planning, creating and writing effective and engaging communications for direct mail, web, case studies, social media, campaigns and advertising, preferably in fundraising communications
- Ability to interpret ideas and research into fundraising language, with strong knowledge in fundraising best practice
- A strong knowledge of and training in Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
