Title: Senior Automation Engineer

Location: Australia [Preferably Melbourne/Sydney] || Hybrid

Job Type: Full Time || Permanent

What You Will Do

In this senior role, you will lead automation definition and uplift across various projects, ensuring our systems meet all requirements and perform optimally. This position offers a chance to drive impactful projects, mentor and lead junior engineers, and be a part of our collaborative and motivated team. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will take on a key role in planning, executing, and reporting on automation activities, while also managing defects and engaging with stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and assure automated Quality Assurance using test automation tools & frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, QTP/UFT and working API framework (RESTful APIs/SOAP UI/Postman API), TypeScript
  • Build automation scripts in HP ALM/JIRA to run on automation labs
  • Analyze test requirements, design and prepare automated test scenarios and scripts with comprehensive coverage
  • Generate test metrics & ROI to support process and efficiency improvements
  • Build complex SQL queries to support automation scripts for data mining and migration
  • Coach and mentor junior developers in the team
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across environments
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and estimation

What You Will Bring

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Engineer with solid backgrounds in both manual and automated testing. With a proven track record of leading complex testing projects, you will also:

  • Be proficient in tools such as JIRA, Xray, TOSCA, Postman, and SQL
  • Experience in automation testing using Playwright, Selenium and similar tools (e.g., UFT) with VBScript, C#, TypeScript, Java, Cucumber, Gherkin, Angular Material Design and TailwindCSS, Angular v12 or later (preferably v18+), TypeScript, Git, and strong OO concepts
  • Hands-on experience in automation framework development and enhancement and in script development (2–3+ years); experience with microservices
  • Proven experience in automated script design, development, execution and maintenance in a Keyword-driven framework using HP UFT or Selenium
  • Understanding of Software Development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and DevOps practices
  • Experience in the superannuation industry or a similar financial sector is a plus
