Job Description

We are seeking an Advanced Skills Radiographer to join our Medical Imaging team in the Townsville Region. The role is responsible for the delivery of advanced level Medical Imaging clinical services and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.

Queensland X-Ray has more than 50 practices, led by the most experienced team of Radiologists and nuclear imaging specialists in the state. Our caring team of professionals from the technical, nursing, and admin support fields are all focused on providing the best service, care and clinical outcomes to our patients and referrers.

About You
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced skills and have proficiency in Cath Lab.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in one or more modalities obtained through significant professional development, postgraduate education or formal qualifications
  • Demonstrated high level of patient care, compassion and clinical awareness, which you promote by example
  • Apply advanced professional, clinical judgement to complex caseloads, adapting routine clinical practice using valid and reliable evidence based practice
  • Utilise advanced level skills, knowledge, experience and clinical leadership to manage, prioritise and organise multi work area caseload
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within the team and actively promote a collegiate approach to problem solving and patient care in a positive work environment
  • Provide education, competency training and mentorship to promote skill development to other members of the team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional personal presentation

Key Accountabilities

Clinical Practice
  • Deliver advanced level medical imaging clinical services across a multi-modality, multidisciplinary team in accordance with; prescribed professional and ethical standards; the established practice and company-wide clinical protocols and policies and the rostering and service delivery requirements of the practice.
  • Demonstrate and promote by example, a high level of patient care, compassion and clinical awareness
  • Demonstrate a high level of responsibility, accountability and initiative across all aspects of clinical practice and promote a culture of service excellence.
  • Apply advanced professional, clinical judgement to complex caseloads, adapting routine clinical practice using valid and reliable evidence based practice
  • Initiate the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the work area
  • Demonstrate an advanced level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in one or more modalities obtained through significant professional development, postgraduate education or formal qualifications.
  • Utilise advanced level skills, knowledge, experience and clinical leadership to manage, prioritise and organise multi work area caseload

Communication / Team Participation
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within the team and actively promote a collegiate approach to problem solving and patient care in a positive work environment
  • Provide advanced level clinical advice and direction to patients, other health care professionals and clinicians regarding service delivery
  • Develop advanced level clinical practice expertise by actively engaging in learning within the team and in professional development activities

Leadership
  • Monitor and report on clinical practice outcomes and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement within area of expertise
  • Participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities that enhance the service delivery in line with recognised organisational pathways
  • Provide clinical practice supervision to students involved in clinical placements and less experienced staff
  • Provide education, competency training and mentorship to promote skill development to other members of the team
  • Be recognised as a resource for clinical advice and consultation within the area of expertise
  • Where required, be able to perform higher duties in area of expertise during periods of absence of the relevant modality senior

Safety and Quality
  • Apply to clinical practice, the standards set by the mandatory Queensland X-ray quality and safety training modules and policies
  • Promote, by example, responsibility and accountability for a clean and safe work environment
  • Report equipment faults and issues to appropriate supervisors and manage repairs as required
