Waymaker Program Classroom Aide at Flinders Christian Community College, Carrum Downs Campus. This is a full-time ongoing role commencing Term 1, 2026 (January 2026). Flinders Christian Community College is a co-educational, non-denominational college with campuses in Tyabb, Carrum Downs, and Mt. Martha offering education from K–12.

The Waymaker Program opened its doors in January 2025 to provide high-quality education for students who cannot attend normal school due to anxiety, depression or PTSD. The Centre is located on the Carrum Downs Campus and is intended to provide a differentiated learning program in a counter-stress environment better suited to the needs and routines of these students than a mainstream setting. We seek to see these students grow and thrive in their social connectedness, wellbeing and learning, through belonging, believing and becoming in a way that equips them to live a full and purposeful life.

Responsibilities
  • The Waymaker Program Classroom Aide will assist Waymaker teachers and work under their direction to support individualised or small group instruction for students with additional needs or disabilities.
  • Help build an effective learning environment by working with teachers to deliver a differentiated curriculum and associated assessment tasks that accommodate a variety of learning styles and difficulties.
  • The Aide will provide assistance within the limits of their training, supporting education and behaviour initiatives as directed by Waymaker teachers.
  • Support delivery of a differentiated program in a counter-stress environment to meet the needs and routines of students with anxiety, depression or PTSD (as part of the Waymaker Centre).
  • Contribute to students' social connectedness, wellbeing and learning through belonging, believing and becoming in alignment with the program's goals.
Qualifications and experience
  • A caring and passionate approach with a strong understanding of, and commitment to, Christian education.
  • Experience working with students or young people in a trauma-informed setting is advantageous.
