Overview

Clinical Nurse Consultant – Mental Health Leadership in Acute Care

Lead mental health nursing in acute care, supporting teams and improving patient outcomes across Metro South Health.

Your New Role

In this role, you will provide advanced leadership within the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service, enhancing mental health care integration in a hospital setting by:

  • Deliver expert consultancy, triage, and assessment for patients in medical and surgical wards.
  • Provide specialist mental health nursing advice, education, and support to nurses, midwives, and allied health staff.
  • Lead and support innovation, service redesign, quality improvement, and research in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, person-centred, evidence-based care.
About You

As a clinical leader with advanced mental health nursing expertise and a patient-centred approach, you will:

  • Current NMBA registration as a Registered Nurse with tertiary nursing qualifications.
  • Advanced clinical expertise in mental health nursing, including assessment, care planning, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, education, and clinical supervision, fostering positive practice environments.
  • Proven ability to influence, drive change, and contribute to research, quality improvement, and service development.
