Join a dynamic rail safety team as a Safety Officer on a contract basis, driving operational and environmental safety across multiple rail infrastructure projects. This is a temporary position based in Adelaide, offering hands-on experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Manager of Operational Safety, you will join a growing team as the second Safety Advisor. This role is focused on operational and environmental safety, including audits, hazard identification, risk management, and investigations. You'll be actively involved in new projects, bushworks, and trackside operations, working across multiple sites primarily in Adelaide and surrounding areas.

About the Person:

The ideal candidate will have a background in rail operations or transport and experience in operational safety environments. You're proactive, adaptable, and enjoy a varied workday. A collaborative approach and strong knowledge of safety protocols are essential, with full training provided for the Safety Management System and site-specific inductions if required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct operational and environmental safety audits across multiple sites
• Identify, assess, and manage hazards and risks
• Support investigations alongside the existing Safety Advisor
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of safety procedures
• Travel to and work across various sites
• Drive projects related to bushworks and other rail infrastructure initiatives
• Participate in intensive training and inductions where required

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Background in rail operations or transport, or operational-facing roles in maritime/shipyard environments
• Strong understanding of operational and environmental safety (WHS experience not required)
• Safety access worker qualifications and rail safety card (or willingness to complete training)
• Ability to conduct trackside audits and investigations
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Possess a valid driver's license for site travel
• Collaborative mindset and ability to contribute to a positive team culture
