Overview

Are you an experienced legal professional with a passion for mentoring and developing others? QBCC is looking for a dedicated Team Leader Principal Lawyer to play a key role in enhancing our in-house legal capability. In this position, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal services across the organization while fostering growth and expertise within our legal team. The position is based in Brisbane, and the successful candidate will have the option to work from home for up to two days per week under an approved Flexible Work Arrangement that suits the team.

Please note: QBCC Brisbane office will be relocating from West End to the Brisbane CBD at the end of 2025.

Candidate Attributes
  • Demonstrated high-level litigation experience, preferably related to government and preferably within administrative law, or civil litigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop lawyers, and mentor other legal practitioners in the QBCC, with previous experience in a similar role.
  • Proven capacity to appear as an advocate on behalf of the QBCC, analyse complex legal and factual issues, and draft complex legal advice.
  • High level interpersonal skills including a high competency in written and oral communications, including the ability to effectively partner with and manage stakeholders.
  • Proven experience being proactive, and client and solutions focused, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
  • Holder of a current practicing certificate issued by the Queensland Law Society or Queensland Bar Association.
  • Fully compliant with all CPD requirements of the Queensland Law Society or Queensland Bar Association.
