The Organisation:

Centrally located federal government department.

The Role:

This is a 9 to 12 months labour hire contract available at either the APS6 or EL1 level. The organisation is seeking a Program Finance Officer to play a leading role in delivering one of their largest programs.

The primary focus will be assessing the financial viability of providers through analysis of financial statements and other information provided during the application process for program funding.

You will also contribute to the delivery of the program through:

  • Compliance reporting
  • Milestone reporting
  • Policy analysis, advice, and briefings

This role should appeal to financial professionals looking to move into program management, those with an accounting background seeking diversity in their work, or experienced program managers seeking their next opportunity.

The role covers someone on extended leave, with no current plans to fill the position permanently.

Your Skills and Experience:

You must be an Australian Citizen with a current baseline clearance. You should have demonstrated capability at the APS6/EL1 level in roles involving financial accounting and analysis, with the ability to translate these skills into financial viability assessments. An audit background can be beneficial but is not essential.

From a program management perspective, you should demonstrate experience in:

  • Analyzing policy and preparing briefs
  • Administering compliance programs
  • Providing policy advice to stakeholders
  • Leading program and project delivery
