Overview

My client, an established & national D&C fitout and refurbishment business, is seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager to deliver commercial fitout projects ranging from $500K to $5M+.

You need to be confident in delivering commercial fitout projects on time and within budget, up to at least $5 million.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of projects from inception to completion, interfacing with design consultants, construction professionals, and the client. You will ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities
  • Project Planning: Collaborating with clients and internal teams to define project scope, objectives, and timelines. Developing comprehensive project plans, including pre-construction programs, resource allocation, and budgets.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and motivating a team of skilled professionals, including architects, designers, contractors, and subcontractors. Ensuring clear communication channels and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Quality Control: Implementing strict quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the highest standards are met. Conducting regular inspections and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Budget Management: Monitoring project finances, tracking expenditures, and managing cost-control strategies to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and developing mitigation plans to avoid any project delays or budget overruns.
  • Client Relations: Maintaining excellent relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing regular project updates. Addressing any concerns or changes efficiently and professionally. Developing and maintaining good relationships with key stakeholders, such as clients and landlords.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all projects comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Preconstruction / Tendering: Possessing a sound understanding of the tender process for both D&C and construction-only tenders. Managing a team of designers, CAs, and estimators.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience within the commercial construction industry - ideally in fitout.
  • Experience delivering projects $2M+
  • Competent user of Procore or equivalent
  • Qualified in Diploma of Construction Management, Project Management, or equivalent
  • Experience in subcontractor tender analysis and negotiations
  • Ability to effectively forecast and manage project budgets
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Solid knowledge of on-site safety requirements
  • Proficient in developing pre-construction programs
  • Experience in design coordination with architects and engineers
  • Ability to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building rapport with the team, clients, and stakeholders
