Narromine Shire Council covers an area of 5,264 km2 and has a population of approximately 6,444 in the rural townships of Narromine, Trangie, & Tomingley, along with surrounding rural areas. Narromine is located 40 km from the regional city of Dubbo.

About the position

Narromine Shire Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant for the position of Team Member Roads.

The objective of this position is to effectively and safely operate Council's plant to carry out pavement construction and maintenance, ensuring safe road surfaces for the travelling public.

Responsibilities include safely and competently operating Council plant and equipment according to manufacturers' specifications and Council procedures, and promoting a positive image of Council to the community.

To be successful in this position, you will need to have:

• Class MR Drivers Licence
• General Construction Induction (CIC - White Card) NSW

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

• Experience operating a backhoe, front-end loader, and grader
• Sound knowledge of construction techniques and principles
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Traffic Control Combo – Traffic Controller & Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plans
• Chainsaw Certification – Crosscut & Trim
• First Aid Certificate
• HR Licence

Position details:

• Graded 4 within Council's salary structure
• Salary range: $56,712 - $63,988 per annum + superannuation, determined by competency assessment
• 38-hour workweek with RDO system (every second Monday off)
• Employment conditions per the Local Government (State) Award
