The Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) will provide nine frigates optimised for anti-submarine warfare to replace the Anzac class frigates based on the UKs Type 26 Global Combat Ship, modified to meet Australian requirements. The design changes include:

  1. The Aegis combat management system with the Saab Australia developed Australian Interface.
  2. The Australian designed and built CEAFAR2 phased array radar.
  3. Integration of systems to support Australian weapons.
  4. Integration of the Seahawk Romeo Maritime Combat Helicopter.
  5. Australian communications systems.
  6. Australian legislative requirements.

MIWS responsibilities in the program are focused on design and integration of the Combat System, weapon system, CEAFAR radar and communications development for this ship class.

The Combat Systems Support System Engineer shall provide systems and software engineering services associated with requirements engineering, engineering metrics, integration engineering, verification and validation, test and evaluation and technical performance measures in planning for the sustainment of the Hunter Class Combat System.

Key Responsibilities:

The required services may include, but not be limited to:

  1. Produce Engineering plans, procedures and reports.
  2. Contract documentation, plans and reports.
  3. Conduct capability and concept development.
  4. Conduct requirements analysis and development.
  5. Conduct design and implementation.
  6. Conduct verification and validation.
  7. Conduct certification and support.
  8. Plan and deliver engineering services, regulatory compliance, resource management and project outcomes.
  9. Conduct reviews of contract deliverables.
Qualifications/Skills:

Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer. Maritime domain experience and combat weapons/Engineering experience is highly desirable.
