About This Job

Position Information

Tirriwirri School is a located on Ngambri and Ngunnawal lands in Queanbeyan on the border of NSW and the ACT. Close to Canberra, the school is only a short drive to the Snowy Mountains or to the South Coast.

The school currently has 34 students in grades K-12. Currently, there are 6 classes of mixed ability. In addition to the teacher, a school learning and support officer helps the teacher deliver high-quality, personalised learning programs. All programs in our school are planned with the priority of providing every opportunity for active student engagement in an environment focused on learning.

Tirriwirri School is an inclusive setting that promotes learning, teaching, and leading for all learners. The school's values and beliefs reflect the commitment towards developing strong partnerships with parents/carers, external agencies, and therapeutic providers.

Specific Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated experience teaching students with diverse needs including Autism, moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, communication challenges and with complex behavioural and emotional needs.
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum and implement individualised learning programs that are inclusive and maximise student success, communication and engagement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and build positive relationships with students, staff, parents/carers, and the wider community including external agencies.
• Commitment to the implementation of successful whole-school culturally responsive wellbeing programs with the proven ability to develop positive, inclusive learning environments through the highly effective management of student behaviour, supporting students with a range of social and emotional needs.
  
  

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
