About the office

The office of the Pro Vice Chancellor, Education is a national office with a mandate to work with academic colleagues across all campuses to support the development of high-quality learning, teaching, and assessment practices. Additionally, it is responsible for developing access pathways, programs and supports that enhance the diversity of the University's student cohort, its ability to achieve enrolment targets, and meet the University's Objects and strategic direction as a Catholic university.

About the role

The Equity Projects Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of projects that enhance the access, participation, retention, and success of students from cohorts traditionally underrepresented in higher education. The role will work closely with stakeholders through consultation and engagement to achieve project outcomes. Additionally, the Equity Projects Coordinator will use strong research and analysis to synthesise data, including reporting and evaluation. The role will demonstrate strong project management skills and knowledge of tertiary education and equity principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage projects that support the University's Student Equity Plan related to improving access and admission practices, inclusive learning and teaching, and partnership programs.
  • Use your knowledge of the student experience and higher education to work with others and improve inclusion for students from underrepresented groups.
  • Build partnerships inside and outside the University to create programs that increase access and participation for these students.
  • Work with teaching staff to create resources that help them support and empower students from underrepresented groups.
  • Communicate and coordinate key meetings, and make sure information is shared to keep projects on track.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and ensure the voices of the community and students are heard and respected.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify issues or trends, and report on project progress.
  • Undertake research to support decision-making and planning for the project.
  • Prepare and update project proposals, reports, and contracts to ensure quality information is accessible.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress and risks.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets to make sure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure projects meet quality standards and follow University policies and regulations.
Qualifications, skills & experience
  • A degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of the higher education sector, such as equity, diversity and inclusion; policy; curriculum development; and/or student engagement.
  • Ability to engage project stakeholders effectively, by building effective internal and external relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills including demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and delivery agreed outcomes within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in research and data analysis to support evidence-informed practice.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, online collaboration and project management tools, and common software applications.
