**Principal Procurement Officer Role**

The NSW Department of Customer Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Procurement Officer to lead the end-to-end procurement process.

About Us

We are a leading government agency responsible for delivering customer service excellence across the state. Our focus is on reducing work-related fatalities, serious injuries, and illnesses by enforcing compliance with work health and safety legislation.

We are undergoing a transformation to establish a modern, strong, standalone Work Health and Safety Regulator. This role will play a critical part in shaping our procurement function and ensuring transparency and value-for-money outcomes.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to manage a team, work independently, collaborate, seek feedback, and adapt to priorities.
  • At least 5 years' experience in procurement, contract management, or a related field, preferably including NSW Government experience.
  • High-level organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft applications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills, ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
About the Role

This role provides leadership across the entire procurement process, encompassing:

  • Developing and implementing procurement capability uplift programs for staff involved in procurement activities.
  • Providing expert advice on NSW Government procurement policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating to develop systems and tools that enable compliant procurement activities.
  • Creating sourcing strategies to optimize value and meet stakeholder needs.
  • Designing metrics and reports to monitor procurement performance and benefits.
  • Offering strategic advice to stakeholders and encouraging innovative practices.
  • Managing cross-functional groups to deliver value while adhering to government processes.

This role requires a deep understanding of procurement principles and best practices, as well as excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

Essential Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or industry skills and experience are essential.
