About The Role

The Financial Controller is responsible for managing and coordinating the financial operations of the Group's Australian and overseas entities. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with both Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), while supporting the broader strategic objectives of the organisation. Working closely with the Head of Finance, the Financial Controller plays a key role in financial consolidation, cross-border reporting, process improvement, and the delivery of high-quality financial insights. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to managing multi-jurisdictional accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations across both the Australian and US entities, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the general ledger, including reconciliations of key accounts, bank statements, intercompany transactions, and consolidations.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes across jurisdictions.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with AASB and US GAAP as required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax and reporting obligations, including BAS, GST, FBT, and US equivalent filings.
  • Support the budgeting process by providing financial analysis, forecasting future financial trends, and identifying variances.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems, with a focus on automation, efficiency, and internal control enhancements.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for management review.
  • Collaborate with HOD's to provide financial insights that drive strategic decisions and commercial outcomes.
  • Partner with the Operations, Marketing and Product teams to support inventory planning, promotional forecasting, and ROI analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems, with a focus on automation, efficiency, and internal control enhancements.

About You

  • Ability to work deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and sound knowledge of internal controls
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar); ERP experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, produce high quality work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Critical thinker with an investigative nature, a problem-solving mindset, and an analytical approach to work

Experience & Skills
  • 5+ years commercial experience, preferably in the ecommerce industry, multinationally
  • Bachelor of Finance/Commerce/Business (or equivalent)
  • CA/CPA qualification (or working towards)
  • Strong knowledge of AASB, US GAAP, and relevant regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial consolidations and cross-border reporting.
