Supplementary Stevedore

We are currently seeking women and men to join our Brisbane team in the position of a Casual or "Supplementary" General Stevedore.

Our workforce is available 24/7 to provide seamless access to terminal facilities across Australia. This role requires shift work, across 7 days a week, with shifts notified 1 day in advance via an automated phone system or online. Initially, employment is on a casual basis with no shift guarantees.

As a General Stevedore, you will work outdoors performing three main tasks:

1. Lashing – Using heavy rigging equipment to secure shipping containers to ships' decks. You must pass a 'lashing bar lifting test' as part of a pre-employment medical and physical assessment.
2. Pins – Locking and unlocking twist locks that secure containers, performed near cranes and machinery.
3. Straddle driving – Operating a 60-tonne vehicle to move containers, which involves working at heights of approximately 12 meters, so a fear of heights may be a concern.

A 2-week induction and training program will be provided, including training on lashing and pins, with straddle training scheduled later.

This role requires Maritime Security Clearance and candidates must obtain or hold an MSIC card. Applicants must have Australian residency and working rights prior to application.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• Valid driver's license
• Valid forklift license (LF)
• Experience operating heavy machinery
• Experience with shift work (day, evening, night)
• Experience in physical work or labouring
• Background in heavy industry (warehousing, transport, logistics, construction, mining, manufacturing)
