Role context

The team are responsible for building and testing silicon modules for the next generation of particle tracking detector in the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The role will play a leading part in Adelaide's commitment to Australia delivering our pledge of silicon strip modules to the inner tracker (ITk) group of ATLAS. Specifically learning to operate the hardware required to thermal cycle, test and characterise the silicon strip modules of ATLAS ITk. The position will require working with a team of staff and students and liaising with international collaborators to ensure the high-quality modules are produced.

Responsibilities
  • Operate hardware required to thermal cycle, test and characterise silicon strip modules for ATLAS ITk.
  • Work with a team of staff and students; liaise with international collaborators to ensure high-quality modules are produced.
  • Support the laboratory needs of physicists and maintain equipment and computers to assist researchers, students and staff.
  • Contribute to the coordination and integration of silicon module production within the ITk project.
Qualifications
  • Experience with laboratory needs in experimental particle physics, electronics, applied physics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience supporting laboratory needs and maintaining equipment and computers for researchers and staff.
  • Experience working with university-based academics.
  • Knowledge and experience interfacing and controlling hardware across various computing platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to associated behaviour expectations.
