Overview of the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Business Analyst to support data analytics initiatives and drive impactful IT solutions. The role focuses on delivering high-quality business analysis, including documenting requirements, developing user stories, and co-designing data visualizations. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to align solutions with organizational objectives, optimize processes, and stay updated on industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform business analysis for data analytics tasks, including requirements documentation, changes to existing data assets, and data product design.
  • Collaborate with teams, business partners, and stakeholders to capture business needs and propose aligned solutions.
  • Develop and refine user stories in collaboration with senior analysts and stakeholders, ensuring readiness for engineering and testing teams.
  • Facilitate and participate in co-design workshops for dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Document current and future-state business processes, integrating people, technology, and data elements.
  • Identify dependencies across programs and contribute to strategic IT planning and framework development.
  • Develop business cases, define user journeys, and translate them into actionable requirements.
  • Stay informed on emerging data analytics tools, techniques, and industry trends.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and proactively report hazards or incidents.

Key Competencies and Skills:

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in data-focused roles and large-scale IT initiatives.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of data analytics concepts, business analysis tools, and IT systems integration.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SQL, statistical concepts, and data warehousing/business intelligence. Agile/SCRUM delivery experience is highly valued.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to articulate technical and non-technical concepts clearly and professionally.
  • Customer Focus: Proven ability to build positive relationships, understand business needs, and provide tailored solutions.
  • Autonomy: Capability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in dynamic environments.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled at identifying technical issues and risks, with a focus on delivering strategic and effective solutions.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Proficient in facilitating workshops, eliciting requirements, and developing user-centered designs.
  • Vendor Engagement: Experience drafting Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and managing vendor interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications in Business Analysis (e.g., IIBA, CBAP) or Agile (e.g., Certified Scrum Master, SAFe Agilist) are desirable.
  • Background in the Higher Education sector or mixed business systems and infrastructure projects is a plus.
