Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia – full-time role in the North West Hospital Maternity Unit, the referral centre for all pregnant women in the region and for a small Northern Territory community.
Responsibilities- Provide expert clinical knowledge and clinical care for women and babies with a variety of conditions.
- Support a safe care environment through role modelling and applying the principles of contemporary evidence-based woman- and baby-focused care.
- Lead, educate, and mentor staff, including Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), and other non-registered personnel in more complex situations.
- Deliver leadership, portfolio management, and contribute to ongoing professional development within the team.
- Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- A period of probation may apply.
- Base salary ranges between $107,960 and $115,604 p.a. (Midwife Grade 6, Band 1).
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
- Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.
- Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are available.
- Isolation bonus: 1 year AUD$3,500; 2 years AUD$10,500; 3rd year and every year after AUD$7,000.
- 2 return airfares p.a. to the nearest east coast provincial city (including spouse/dependents) with recreation leave; 5 weeks annual leave with a 17.5% loading/bonus.
- Staff accommodation (if eligible) or a private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.
- Plus 2 weeks p.a. travel as required and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.
The role is based in Mount Isa, a family-friendly city with an outback community feel. The North West Queensland region offers a rural/urban mix and opportunities to make a real and positive difference. The Traditional Owners of the area are the Kalkadoon people.
About the RoleThe North West Hospital Maternity Unit is the referral centre for all pregnant women in the region and for a small Northern Territory community. The Clinical Midwife Clinical Facilitator (CMCF) provides expert clinical knowledge and care, supports a safe care environment through evidence-based practice, and offers leadership and mentoring. The CMCF also provides guidance to RN, RM, and other personnel in more complex situations.
