Position Information
Palinyewah Public School is a small rural school situated on the Darling River 40 km north of Wentworth. The school has an enrolment of 20 students. Palinyewah Public School is classified as a TP1 school with two multi-stage classes. Providing quality educational experiences in a small rural setting is a priority, where meeting the individual learning needs of students is paramount.
Following the recent external validation process, the school has a strong focus on Explicit Teaching, embedding school-wide data-informed assessment processes and student voice and agency to maximise learning across the whole school community.
The school has a strong focus on student wellbeing initiatives with expectations centred around responsibility, respect and integrity.
Strong community relationships are an important aspect of the school with a high level of community consultation and involvement.
The school has a strong focus on Explicit Teaching, embedding school-wide data-informed assessment processes and student voice and agency to maximise learning across the whole school community.
The school is part of the local area Sunraysia Network which is part of the Far West Principal Network. Teacher housing is available.
General Selection Criteria
- High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
- Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
- Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
- Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
- Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
- Outstanding multistage teaching skills with the capacity to balance teaching and administrative demands of a teaching principal, including inclusive individualised education programs focussed on improving student outcomes across multi-stage class settings
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to genuinely engage and build strong partnerships with parents, staff, network schools and all key stakeholders that will enhance learning and wellbeing of students, as well as build the image of public education within a rural setting
- Demonstrated experience as an instructional leader who inspires staff to build a culture of expertise in classroom practice with a clear focus on explicit teaching, literacy and numeracy

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2017 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP1 for 2025.
