CHPP Operator Maintainer

We are currently seeking an experienced Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) Operator – Electrical at our Wilpinjong mine.
Our Wilpinjong Mine is an open-cut mine located 58 kilometres northeast of Mudgee, producing high-quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets. We have a mine life extending into the 2030s and are exploring options to expand that for another decade.
Reporting to the CHPP Shift Supervisor, your role will be to operate all areas of the Coal Preparation plant in line with production schedules while working within a small crew.
The majority of trade work is completed by external contractors during planned shutdowns, so this role focuses more on processing and first-pass maintenance/trade work with good variety.
To provide variety in your day, duties will include:
- Operate and monitor the preparation plant to optimize production and quality as directed by the CHPP Production Supervisor.
- Identify, report, and act on all hazards, complying with the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
- Perform train loading operations in line with train schedules and blend parameters.
- Conduct CHPP roving duties to monitor performance and make adjustments as required.
- Perform first response breakdown maintenance tasks as needed.
- Conduct P.M. inspections.
- Operate stockpile dozers to manage the product coal stockpile.
- Operate stockpile dozers for reclaim operations and train loading.
- Maintain CHPP equipment during scheduled maintenance periods.
- Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the CHPP and Train Loadout.
This position is offered on a family-friendly rotating 5:4 even time roster with a mix of days and nights, allowing you to enjoy a residential lifestyle in the nearby Mudgee district.
With 6 weeks of annual leave, this role allows ample time for leisure and family activities, with only a 3-hour drive to Sydney or the coast. Mudgee airport offers flights to Sydney, Newcastle, and Cobar, while nearby Dubbo Airport provides destinations including Brisbane, Melbourne, Broken Hill, Walgett, Bourke, and Lightning Ridge.

The successful candidate must have an electrical trade qualification and be a proactive team player, with:
- An electrical qualified supervisor's certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years of operations/maintenance experience in a CHPP.
- A demonstrated positive work ethic.
- Effective teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work on a 24/7 rotating shift roster.
