DESCRIPTION

Amazon Australia Operations is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to support the growing volume and complexity of partnership agreements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing partnership agreements with carriers, executing sourcing strategies, conducting spend analysis, developing strategic partnerships, identifying vendors, leading negotiations, and collaborating with internal teams such as legal, finance, security, and compliance.

The Procurement Manager must understand contract terms, compliance obligations, and business concerns, and be able to explain contract details to stakeholders while identifying solutions to meet customer needs. The role involves resolving carrier questions during negotiations and working with internal stakeholders on specific issues.

The candidate will lead efforts to finalize agreements, obtain approvals, and oversee delivery and execution. The ideal candidate is inquisitive, enthusiastic about delivery services, enjoys challenges, and demonstrates sound judgment in ambiguous situations.

This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Implement sourcing strategies to improve cost, capacity, and diversification by analyzing transportation capabilities in the AU market against business needs.
  2. Identify and develop carrier partners, focusing on those who can innovate, promote sustainability, enhance speed, and improve customer experience.
  3. Provide leadership on executing competitive commercial deals and partnerships.
  4. Develop innovative commercial models and negotiate service agreements.
  5. Execute contracts to maximize value in line with Amazon Operations objectives.
  6. Collaborate with global and local stakeholders to understand existing vendor tools and identify gaps in the AU market.
  7. Apply negotiation tools effectively.
  8. Engage directly with partners on commercial and contractual terms.
  9. Close deals by briefing senior management and coordinating with internal and customer stakeholders.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Lead partner negotiations confidently.
  • Explain standard agreement terms and negotiate fallback positions when necessary.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to support strategy, negotiation, and execution of enterprise agreements.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus and commercial acumen.
  • Drive cross-functional engagement with internal and external teams.
  • Meet deadlines while managing multiple negotiations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in data analysis, modeling, and forecasting to influence business processes.
  • Experience in commercial contracts and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills to simplify complex topics.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in data analysis tools.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large data sets.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, or related fields; open to all bachelor's degrees.
  • Experience in fast-paced, complex environments such as Supply Chain, e-Commerce, Consulting, or Finance.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented setting.
