We're now seeking a Senior Technical Engineering Authority to lead our technical standards and design direction across this diverse and growing portfolio.

About the Role

This is a senior leadership role for someone who enjoys problem solving and isn't afraid to get hands-on. You'll be responsible for guiding technical delivery, maintaining design integrity, and ensuring that what we build actually solves the problem it's meant to.

From subsea tooling, well decommissioning systems, mining robotics, and carbon capture infrastructure, you'll be across projects from concept through to deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the Technical Authority for engineering deliverables across all projects
Provide design sign-off on engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
Maintain and continuously improve Blakemere's engineering standards, processes, and QA/QC procedures
Mentor and guide a multidisciplinary team of engineers and drafters across mechanical, structural, and systems design
Lead and facilitate technical risk reviews, FMEAs, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g. DNV, AS/NZS, API)
Lead or support the detailed design and analysis of subsea structures, lifting equipment, deployment systems, and cutting tools
Interface directly with clients during technical reviews, tender development, and troubleshooting discussions
Participate in site visits, FATs, and offshore trials or mobilisations as required
Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and contribute to R&D and innovation efforts

About You

Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering
10+ years' experience across relevant industries (subsea, offshore, mining, or energy)
Proven track record in technical authority roles or senior design leadership
Strong grasp of mechanical systems, structural analysis, fatigue, lifting, pressure equipment
Deep problem-solving mindset — someone who enjoys designing smart, buildable solutions
Confident communicator with strong client-facing and leadership skills
Experience working in smaller, agile engineering teams is a plus
Willingness to travel for site/FAT/offshore work occasionally
