Overview

Senior Associate - Privacy / Freedom of Information, Canberra office. The role focuses on privacy and FOI matters for Commonwealth government clients within Hall & Wilcox's Dispute Resolution - Public Law team.

Responsibilities
  • Advise on data protection and data retention strategies.
  • Develop privacy-compliant schemes for digital products and IT infrastructure.
  • Prepare Privacy Impact Assessments and advise on privacy policies and privacy guidelines.
  • Advise on FOI matters and prepare submissions to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
  • Act in merits and judicial review proceedings as required.
About You
  • Between 5 and 8 years of post-admission experience working in or for the public sector on Commonwealth government matters.
  • Significant experience in privacy and FOI matters.
  • Interest in growing the Commonwealth government practice; excellent drafting and analytical skills; strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team; capability to manage matters and competing timelines.
