The Role

Centrecare is seeking a qualified and experienced Children's Counsellor to join our Men Choosing Respect program, based in Midland. This full-time, permanent Level 5 position involves both office-based and outreach counselling for children aged 0-12.

You will work within Centrecare's Therapeutic Framework to ensure high-quality, evidence-based services that promote safety, wellbeing, and development for children and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing trauma-informed counselling to children, young people, and families, including assessment, case planning, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Offering early intervention and family support to promote child development, healthy attachment, protective behaviors, and life skills.
  • Conducting risk assessments and safety planning for clients affected by family and domestic violence, including outreach services as required.

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Counselling, Childhood Development, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in child counselling and working with families experiencing complex needs, including family and domestic violence.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management, intake, assessment, and referral processes.
  • Current National Police Certificate (valid within the last 12 months).
  • Valid WA Working with Children Card.
  • Valid WA Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle for outreach purposes.
