Our client provides rail to road, dry freight, refrigerated and bulk freight services across Australia. They have an exciting opportunity for a State Operations Manager to join their well-established team on a fulltime basis located in the Forrestfield area.

About the role

Lead and promote a safety-first culture focused on injury prevention, workplace health and safety (WHS), and environmental compliance.

Define and manage annual WHS performance goals, ensuring delivery on key metrics such as LTI, LTIFR, MTI, MTIFR, and adherence to incident management standards.

Strengthen inter-state processes and collaboration to ensure optimal service delivery to our customer base.

Foster a consistent, standards-driven operational culture grounded in discipline and accountability.

Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence by ensuring system compliance and embracing innovation.

Set the standard by consistently demonstrating the organization's values in every action and decision.

Promote accountability by implementing clear role definitions and conducting regular performance evaluations.

Cultivate a culture of strategic thinking, initiative, and exemplary behaviour across the team.

Actively source and hire top-tier talent aligned with the organization's values and strategic objectives.

Lead the development and execution of a performance-driven employee recognition and rewards program.

What We're Looking For

At least 5+ years' experience in Senior Operational Management role.

Successfully led large, cross-functional teams across diverse operational settings.

Demonstrated expertise in managing profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities and overseeing cost centers.

Hands-on experience in leading Work Health and Safety (WHS) committees and driving safety initiatives.

Proven success in engaging with unions and leading enterprise agreement (EA) negotiations.

Strong background in customer relationship management and key account oversight.

Extensive experience in managing facilities, fleet operations (including MHE), and end-to-end supply chain functions.

Required

Unrestricted rights to work in Australia.

Current National Police clearance or willing to obtain.

Certificate IV or above in a relevant discipline.

Logistics, Management or Business qualification - Diploma level or higher.

HR/IR Legislation and practices.

High risk forklift license and experience.

Lean Management process knowledge and experience.

Rail operations knowledge & experience.

First Aid & Mental Health training.
