Position InformationProvide support to natural disaster (including cyclone and flood) affected school communities as a Student Support Officer – Youth Outreach Worker – Recovery Strategy with the NSW Department of Education.

● Professional support and training in evidence-based wellbeing programs will be provided
The NSW Department of Education has established temporary Student Support Officer (Youth Outreach Worker) Recovery Strategy roles to provide dedicated onsite wellbeing support to students and school communities within the Northern Rivers, North Coast and Mid-North Coast of NSW (including Aldavilla PS, Cundletown PS, Landsdowne PS, Gloucester PS, Pacific Palms PS, Smithtown PS, Centaur PS, Casino PS, Ballina PS and Kyogle PS). These roles will deliver evidence-based wellbeing programs and provide support to students to increase resilience and assist in their psycho-social recovery following cumulative natural disaster events including the impact of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred and the Mid-North Coast floods in 2025. The department will be offering part-time and/or full-time temporary contracts. Applicants who proceed to interview will be asked to list their preferences.
The roles will work across several school settings to provide students, staff and parents with access to a selection of evidence-based programs and resources to support student wellbeing. These programs will support students to learn new ways to adapt to experiences of change, loss and grief and move forward with confidence and hope following natural disaster.

Essential Requirements- A completed diploma or higher qualification in social work, youth work, welfare or related discipline.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department\'s Aboriginal education policy.
- Valid and current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Full car (class C) drivers licence
