Our two-year Graduate Development Program is designed to give you a smooth start to your consulting career. Alongside your peers, managers and mentors, we'll help you detangle challenges along the way.
OverviewWe're GHD. We don't do hair. But we do straighten out some of the world's biggest challenges. We're engineers, scientists, designers, architects, planners, advisors, innovators and change makers, committed to making energy, water and communities sustainable for generations to come. Since 1928, we've been wholly owned by our employees. Today, we are 11,000 diverse and skilled individuals working in over 160 offices across five continents.
What you'll experience- Throughout the program you'll gain a broad view of the career pathways available at GHD, helping you understand where your strengths and interests fit.
- You'll have the chance to work in design teams to help deliver exciting projects, contribute to bids and tenders, and gain hands-on with occasional site work.
- In Year 1, you'll focus on the fundamentals of consulting to help you find your rhythm in the industry.
- In Year 2, you'll have flexibility to shape your development, either deepening technical skills or learning from mentors.
We want your journey to be as smooth as possible. Here's what you'll need to prepare:
- Your CV: A snapshot of your studies and experiences, paid or unpaid.
- A cover letter: Show where you'd like to grow within GHD and demonstrate your communication skills.
- Your transcript: Helps us understand what you've learned, from core subjects to electives.
Here's what to expect, step by step:
- Screening: We review applications as they come in, with the bulk after applications close.
- Video interviews: Record answers to a few questions to demonstrate your communication style and interest in GHD.
- Meet the team: Face-to-face or virtual interview with your prospective team and behavioural questions.
- Psychometric assessments: Quick tests to understand how you like to work and your strengths.
- Offer: If successful, we'll discuss salary, start date, and background checks.

Start dates and opportunitiesMost full‑time roles kick off in February 2026, though some teams may start earlier in mid‑2025. There may be casual work opportunities during your final year to get a head start.
