We are looking for a Biosecurity officer to join our high performing team in Invasive Plants and Animals:

  • communicate with local government to support biosecurity planning and facilitate capacity building for management of invasive species
  • actively participate in daily operations focusing on preventative surveys, compliance investigations, eradication responses and provision of technical advice to stakeholders

Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health and our way of life in general. The IPA program directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.

As our biosecurity officer, you will provide operational services that minimise the risks associated with invasive plants and animals in Queensland. With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity concerns that threaten our environment and economy.

  • are dedicated to facilitating risk-based invasive plants and animals' management in conjunction with local government and others
  • can manage your own work priorities, ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables
  • are actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.
