About Us

Since 2006, the Summer Foundation has worked to create a brighter future for people with disability. Together with partners, we've supported more than 7,500 young people with disability to live where and how they choose — instead of aged care.

Now, we've set our sights on a bold new mission: to design and scale innovative, user-led housing and living solutions that transform lives and remain affordable for government.

About You

You're a human-centred design innovator, a creative and practical problem-solver who thrives in complexity. You want your work to have a purpose, shaping solutions that drive lasting change for people with disability. Whether you're building your expertise or already an experienced leader, you know how to design with users at the centre, collaborate effectively, and turn bold ideas into real-world change.

We're interested in hearing from people with skills across innovation, design, insights, analysis, and delivery, such as:

  • Design & Innovation – Human-centred design, service design, prototyping, testing, scaling ideas, systems thinking, change design.
  • Insights & Discovery – Insight generation, user research, journey mapping, evaluation, evidence synthesis.
  • Analysis & Viability – Economic modelling, financial/feasibility analysis, business case development, viability testing.
  • Collaboration & Delivery – Collaborative problem-solving, strategic project delivery, leading and implementing innovation initiatives.

We especially encourage applications from people with lived experience of disability, and value the ability to collaborate effectively with our dedicated co-design team.

Alongside these skills, if you bring a mix of curiosity, empathy, strategic thinking, and execution focus, we'd love to connect.

Opportunities

We're building a flexible innovation & design talent pool for current and future opportunities, including:

  • Permanent and fixed-term roles
  • Project-based contracting and consulting
  • Short-term secondments

You may work on:

  • Leading strategic innovation initiatives that tackle complex system challenges
  • Partnering with people with lived experience of disability to shape solutions
  • Collaborating across disciplines to turn ideas into scalable, real-world change
  • Driving housing, living, policy, and system reform through design-led approaches
