Research Trainee position at QIMR Berghofer involves collaborative research on psychiatric genetics and mental health, focusing on data analysis and research methodology.

Your Role

Here's what you will be doing:

  • Work as part of a team to design and conduct research on genetics, environment, and mental health.
  • Investigate patient responses to psychiatric disorder treatments, including side effects and outcomes.
  • Optimize research participation protocols to improve participant understanding and research quality.
  • Gather and summarize relevant literature to support research projects.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a group.
  • Build expertise in research methodology.
  • Adhere to high ethical standards and comply with Work Health & Safety policies.
  • Collaborate with a Research Facilitator and other team members in groups of four.
About You

What you'll need:

  • Interest in gaining research experience.
  • Currently a 2nd or 3rd-year undergraduate student in psychology, public health, science, or related fields.
  • Curious and willing to engage in discussions and decision-making on study protocols.
  • Available 1-2 days per week with flexibility for weekly team meetings.
  • Previous training or coursework in research methods, data, or statistics is advantageous.
  • Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid visa/work permit with work rights in Australia.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Casual hourly rate of $39.16 per hour.
  • Expected commitment of approximately 16-32 hours per fortnight (1-2 days a week).
