The Role

ABC Radio Melbourne is seeking a producer who knows how to find a great story for a 12-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a news-focused program. Under the guidance of an experienced senior producer, you will be responsible for generating stories, sourcing talent, writing briefs, helping to identify talkback topics and in-studio production support.

We're looking for someone with the tenacity to keep calling until they track down the very best guests. You'll need good local knowledge, along with an understanding of what matters to the people of Melbourne.

The Job
  • Producing for ABC Radio Melbourne
  • Producing the program in-studio, managing talk-back callers and guests.
  • Contributing to Emergency Broadcasting as required.

About You

We are after a team player. Someone who listens. Someone who takes a creative approach. Someone who can make great radio and do all of that on a slow news day.

We are looking for someone who's proven they can make a radio show that will reach and keep a broad audience but also extend that content on digital platforms.

You Will Also Have
  • Accomplished program making and presentation skills, with a proven ability to make original and engaging audio and cross platform content for target audience.
  • Accomplished editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.
  • A strong interest in and capacity to break news and produce local current affairs content.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
