Security Engineer

Join a highly respected national organisation playing a pivotal role in shaping secure digital outcomes across Australia. As part of a small and agile security operations team, you'll have the opportunity to make meaningful impact by delivering real technical outcomes - balancing both hands-on operations and uplift project work.
The Opportunity
This role sits within a broader 7-person cyber function. You'll be one of three in the operations team and will take ownership of engineering, implementation, and analyst-level responsibilities across Microsoft-based environments. You'll work across both cloud and on-premise platforms, contribute to uplift initiatives, and respond hands-on to security incidents.
Key Focus Areas
- Implement and maintain security tooling
- Contribute to ongoing security uplift initiatives and BAU operations
- Lead vulnerability management and monitoring
- Participate in hands-on incident response and post-event analysis
- Support solution design alongside the architecture team
- Maintain policies and promote security awareness
What You'll Bring
- 3–5 years of experience in cyber security operations
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft cloud (Azure) and Windows environments
- Exposure to SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability management tools
- Hands-on experience with incident response and threat detection
- Understanding of ISO27001 or NIST frameworks
- Scripting/automation skills are appreciated but not essential
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP, CEH, Security+) are highly regarded
