TITLE: Level 1 (Packer)

LOCATION: Brompton, South Australia

RESPONSIBLE TO: Production Shift Manager - Detmold Medical

FUNCTION: Production

PURPOSE:

To work as a part of the production team who are responsible for maintaining daily disciplines to efficiently and safely prepare and pack products within a factory environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVITIES:

Occupational Health & Safety

  1. Demonstrate personal commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental management by complying with Detmold Medical Policies, Procedures and relevant national Occupational Health Safety & Environmental Legislation.
  2. Follow and obey reasonable instructions and use safety equipment provided.
  3. Take reasonable care to avoid exposing people or the environment that may be affected by their acts or omissions to unnecessary injury, illness and environmental harm.
  4. Report for work in a fit state and not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  5. Immediately report to their supervisor any potential workplace OHS hazard or incident that may occur during the course of their work and be proactive in providing possible solutions.
  6. Familiarize yourself with OHS rules and requirements applicable to your tasks, role and scope of work.
  7. Participate in and contribute to Occupational Health & Safety activities/inspections/training e.g. First Aid Officer, Fire Warden and OHSE Safety Committee Representative.
  8. Attend and actively participate in monthly toolbox work group meetings.
  9. Immediately report any injury (no matter how minor) to your supervisor as soon as possible to allow for proper medical treatment.
  10. Comply with and understand Product Safety requirements.

Productivity:

  1. Pack and dispatch product.
  2. Achieve productivity targets as set for the machine.
  3. Advise Level 2 of any variance to running speed and efficiency to specification.
  4. Minimize downtimes by finding better ways to do work.
  5. Proactively prepare for the next tasks to enable smooth production flow.

Waste:

  1. Achieve or better waste targets for each machine.
  2. Make recommendations on ways to reduce waste.

Quality:

  1. All products are to be produced within the specifications provided.
  2. Ensure quality systems and procedures are adhered to.
  3. Provide assistance in the resolution of quality matters and complaints.

Housekeeping:

  1. Ensure work area, benches and environment achieves housekeeping targets (Everything has a spot).
  2. Perform both machine and general cleaning duties as required.

Training:

  1. When required, assist and train others to the level of your competency.
  2. Participate in any training to improve workplace performance.

General:

  1. Any other duties as required.
  2. Comply with all Company policies, procedures and instructions.
  3. Work with other team members to enhance machine performance.
  4. Participate in teamwork and group discussions.
  5. Promote teamwork between packers and operators.
  6. Ensure thorough handovers at the start and end of every shift.
  7. Work with team leaders and supervisors to continuously develop and improve overall workplace.
  8. Maintain courteous personal interactions and ensure queries are made clearly and concisely.
  9. Complete workplace documents clearly and accurately within a specified time.
