Macdonald & Company is proud to partner with an established, Charlotte based real estate investment and development firm is seeking a Senior Building Engineer to join its facilities management team. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the operational performance of a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and mixed-use properties across the Charlotte Metro area. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise and a commitment to safety, efficiency, and tenant satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute preventative maintenance schedules across assigned properties.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical building infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Respond promptly to operational issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring tenant satisfaction.
  • Oversee facility operations to maintain safety, efficiency, and compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Coordinate with property management, vendors, and contractors on repair and maintenance projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and inventory records.

Qualifications:

  • Proven building maintenance and repair experience, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance.
  • Demonstrated facility management expertise in commercial or institutional environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to address complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses in building engineering, HVAC, or facilities management preferred.
