About the role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Payroll Officer to join our finance team in our head office in Surry Hills. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is passionate about payroll and likes to analyse data relating to employees. You will be responsible for processing payroll, responding to payroll queries, and end of month reporting such as monthly payroll accruals. This role provides a perfect opportunity for the right candidate who wants to take the next steps in their career in finance and work in payroll. Previous experience working in payroll will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Verifying employee timesheet data for completeness and accuracy.
  2. Process weekly payroll on time with accuracy.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of employee personal data.
  4. Respond to requests relating to leave balances, terminations, changes, adjustments etc.
  5. Ensure that all employee data is up to date in the payroll system.
  6. Monthly tasks like payroll tax calculations, reporting of leave balances, superannuation, month end payroll accruals etc.
  7. Administration duties include answering phone calls.
  8. Adhere to all office policies and procedures.
About You:

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You should have strong organisational and analytical skills, an eye for detail, able to interpret Fair Work awards and have knowledge around payroll and legislation.

Required qualifications:
  1. Must have strong payroll system experience and very good Microsoft Excel skills.
  2. Willing to learn payroll procedures and aspects of Cleaning, Hospitality, and Security industries.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Self-motivated, results driven and likes solving problems.
  5. Eager to improve and learn new finance and accounting tasks.
  6. Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
