Senior Architect - Data Engineering

The Data practice at Slalom builds a better future with data by co-creating modern data solutions with trusted partnerships. Joining our team means partnering with clients to learn from their data, create digital experiences, and leverage ML and analytics.

What You'll Do
  • Design and deliver innovative data solutions on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud using core data warehouse tools, distributed processing engines, event streaming platforms, and other modern data technologies.
  • Build the next generation of data platforms for forward-thinking organizations in data and analytics.
  • Understand the client's current environment and future-state architecture plans.
  • Facilitate working design sessions with Slalom and client teams to drive strategy, architecture, and implementation of data engineering solutions.
  • Describe the pros and cons of solution designs and lead the team to consensus.
  • Break down complex development tasks and ensure timely, high-quality delivery by the development team reporting to you, aligned with the designed technical solution.
  • Participate in pre-sales activities when possible, helping define approaches to technical challenges and assisting with project estimation and planning.
What You'll Bring
  • Broad experience in architecture design with deep expertise in one or more data engineering technologies and a curiosity to learn from client engagements.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to break down large problems and share learnings within projects and the Slalom Build community.
  • Hands-on experience with data platforms and languages such as: Big Data Platforms (Apache Spark, Presto, Amazon EMR); Cloud Data Warehouses (Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery); Java, Python; NoSQL (DynamoDB, Cosmos DB, MongoDB); Containerization (Kubernetes, Amazon ECS); AI/ML (Amazon SageMaker, Azure ML Studio); Streaming (Kinesis, Kafka); Visual Analytics (Tableau, PowerBI); Modern Data Workflows (Airflow, dbt, Dagster).
