TasNetworks is seeking energetic individuals who enjoy working in a team environment to join our Apprenticeship Program, starting in February 2026. Our programs offer the opportunity to gain a nationally recognized trade qualification.

As an apprentice, you will learn from skilled tradespeople and be exposed to:

  • Theory and practical training delivered by our Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
  • On-site work at various locations in Tasmania (South, North, North-West)
  • Inspection of overhead structures and electrical equipment
  • Fault detection and rectification on the distribution network
  • Installation and maintenance of public lighting, overhead conductors, and cables
  • Low and high voltage switching operations

We have multiple apprenticeship opportunities across major and regional depots in Tasmania, including:

  • Distribution Lineworker (over 4 years, Certificate III in ESI Distribution Overhead) – Cambridge, Rocherlea, St Marys
  • Transmission Lineworker (over 4 years, Certificate III in ESI Transmission Overhead) – Cambridge, Devonport
  • Dual Trade (must be a qualified Electrician, over 2 years, Certificate III in ESI Distribution Overhead) – New Norfolk, Scottsdale, Smithton, Queenstown
  • Electrical Technician (over 4 years, Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician) – Cambridge, Rocherlea, Devonport

About you

You are passionate about building your career and making a positive impact in your community.

To qualify, you should be able to complete the relevant trade certificate, follow health, safety, and environmental practices, communicate effectively, and foster positive relationships with colleagues and customers.

You must be physically fit, pass a pre-employment medical, and hold a provisional driver's license by February 2026.

Applicants should have completed Year 12 with passes in Maths, English, and preferably Science, or have completed pre-vocational studies (e.g., Certificate II in Electrotechnology) or relevant work experience.
