Position Summary

Career Interest: Shifts Available: Mon.- Fri. at West Plaza and Quivira locations or Sat. & Sun. 6:30am-5pm at Indian Creek location.

The CT Technologist is responsible for producing cross-sectional images for diagnosing disease processes. Procedures can be performed at various locations throughout West Plaza and Quivira. CT Technologists are expected to participate in ongoing training and education.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Acts as a liaison for communication between departments and assists with special projects approved by Radiology Department leadership.
  • Helps develop continuing education strategies for the CT Department to support staff development.
  • Provides teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students.
  • Ensures staff operate equipment safely and efficiently by adhering to policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Operates CT scanners and auxiliary devices within designated locations, maintaining safety and minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Maintains organized patient flow, coordinates examinations efficiently, and minimizes patient hospital stay.
  • Possesses knowledge of contrast reactions and responds promptly to patient needs.
  • Completes mandatory educational assignments as directed by supervisors.
  • Performs routine CT procedures at a high standard and develops skills for specialty studies.
  • Sets equipment parameters, assesses and educates patients, prepares patients, and manages venous access for contrast administration.
  • Supports the Mission and Vision of KU Hospital and aims for "World Class" status.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the department.

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • High School Graduate
  • Experience performing basic CT procedures
  • 1-3 years of large facility experience

Required Licensure and Certification

  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) within 90 days
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Computed Tomography (CT) - ARRT
  • Radiography (R) - ARRT within 180 days

Knowledge Requirements

  • High computer skills related to RIS, PACS, EMR
