About The Opportunity

We are proud to partner with a leading Australian manufacturing organisation to recruit a permanent full-time Cost Accountant to join their high-performing finance function. Based in Brisbane's inner western suburbs, this role offers excellent development and growth opportunities.

This is a key role for a commercially minded accounting professional with a passion for operational finance and cost analysis. Proven experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.

About The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for cost accounting functions and providing critical insights to support manufacturing operations and financial performance. Your role will include identifying cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and partnering with operational teams to drive performance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and deliver accurate cost and management reports, including P&L, variance analysis, and commentary for manufacturing operations.
  2. Analyse and monitor standard costs, labour, material usage, and overheads, identifying variances and improvement opportunities.
  3. Partner with operational teams to provide financial insights that drive cost control, efficiency, and performance outcomes.
  4. Support budgeting and forecasting processes for manufacturing cost centres and operational planning.
  5. Perform month-end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, and internal reporting in line with business timelines.
What We're Looking For
  1. Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance, and CA/CPA qualified.
  2. Proven experience in a cost accounting or manufacturing finance role.
  3. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a process improvement mindset.
  4. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  5. Proficient in Excel and ERP systems; SAP experience highly regarded.
