The Opportunity
The Transgender Health Research team at MCRI is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part Time Research Trial Coordinator to join our groundbreaking project aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing of trans and gender diverse young people.
In this role, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the TAG TEAM trial, ensuring the efficient delivery of the intervention and supporting the ongoing research activities in consultation with community advisory groups. Your work will have a direct impact on improving outcomes for young trans and gender diverse individuals and their families.
About Your New Team
Our team is conducting a randomised controlled trial to evaluate the Trans Adolescent Group Therapy for Alleviating Minority Stress (TAG TEAM) program. This innovative intervention aims to alleviate the mental health challenges experienced by trans and gender diverse adolescents, particularly addressing anxiety, depression, and suicidality linked to stigma and discrimination.
Your Responsibilities Include
- Trial Coordination: Oversee the logistics of the clinical trial, including recruitment, data collection, and participant management.
- Session Delivery: Coordinate the delivery of TAG TEAM group sessions, including facilitator recruitment, session scheduling, and participant contact.
- Ethics and Compliance: Prepare and manage ethics applications, ensure adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, and maintain trial documentation.
- Risk Management: Support the trial team in risk assessments and management procedures, working closely with facilitators and research assistants.
- Community Engagement: Support the development of study materials and liaise with the lived experience steering group.
- Team Leadership: Lead team meetings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the trial runs smoothly.
- Training & Support: Manage and mentor trial staff, facilitate ongoing training, and contribute to professional development.
- The role is based at MCRI, co-located with the Royal Children's Hospital in Parkville, easily accessible via public transport (tram lines 58 and 59).
- The office environment is collaborative and includes flexible working options, including the possibility to work from home on days without onsite requirements.
- Onsite work is required on Thursdays for team meetings, with alternative working days negotiable.
- The role may involve occasional after-hours support for TAG TEAM session facilitation.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, occupational therapy) and experience in supporting clinical activities for trans and gender diverse adolescents.
- High-level project coordination skills with a proven ability to manage complex trials and meet deadlines.
- Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging with diverse populations, including young people and families.
- Highly organised, with an attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience or interest in transgender health is advantageous.
- Lived experience as a trans or gender diverse individual is highly regarded.
