Role Overview

As an AI Engineer at Insurgence, you'll architect and build end-to-end AI applications that integrate Large Language Models (LLMs), vector databases, and enterprise workflows in production environments. Working closely with cross-functional teams and clients, you will be hands-on from concept to production. Your work will directly enable enterprise-grade AI capabilities.

Key ResponsibilitiesAI Application Development
  • Design and implement production-grade AI solutions using OpenAI-Python, LangChain, LiteLLM, and custom frameworks.
  • Integrate Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, chatbots, and text-summarisation pipelines.
  • Optimise for quality, latency, and cost using advanced techniques (e.g., model quantisation and caching).
LLM Integration & API Development
  • Develop and maintain robust APIs and micro-services (FastAPI, etc.) for multi-LLM providers (Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral).
  • Create scalable vector search solutions (Azure AI Search/Pinecone/PgVector), including streaming responses and fallback mechanisms.
  • Ensure security and reliability across production environments.
  • Architect AI applications combining LLMs, knowledge graphs, embedding models, and vector stores.
  • Implement features like semantic caching, hybrid search, and custom routing logic to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Balance cost optimisation with security and performance requirements.
MLOps & Infrastructure
  • Deploy, monitor, and scale AI applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure cloud services.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for model deployment, A/B testing frameworks, and observability solutions.
  • Track model quality, performance, and cost to ensure continued ROI and reliability.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • LLM Expertise: Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and deploying LLM-driven applications (chatbots, summarisation, RAG systems).
  • RAG & Vector Databases: Proficiency in Retrieval-Augmented Generation and vector database operations (Azure AI Search, Pinecone, FAISS).
  • Azure AI Services: Solid understanding of Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Search, plus familiarity with core Azure offerings.
  • MLOps & CI/CD: Practical knowledge of MLOps best practices, including managing AI workflows and deploying scalable pipelines.
  • Database Proficiency: Comfortable with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., Azure Cosmos DB).
  • Libraries & Frameworks: Experience with OpenAI-Python, LiteLLM, Pydantic, and similar libraries.
Nice-to-Have
  • Experience designing and integrating AI-driven enterprise workflows within the Microsoft ecosystem (SharePoint, Graph API, MS Teams).
  • Knowledge of advanced AI techniques (reinforcement learning, multi-modal AI).
  • Contributions to open-source AI projects.
