The opportunity

The People Advisory team within People Partnering delivers high quality and consistent advice in managing people-related issues and queries across the employee lifecycle. The team operates to offer centralised support to maximise positive outcomes for individuals and the organisation in alignment with CSIRO's values and strategy. The People Advisory team comprises three sub-teams: People Advisory and Support, People Partnering Support and Operations. The Human Resources Officer is an essential position in the People Advisory team, reporting to a Senior Human Resources Advisor/Team Leader. The role provides advice and support to employees and coaching to managers on operational people matters to drive positive outcomes for CSIRO. It is the first point of contact for people leaders and employees and supports capability uplift of leaders through ongoing advice and coaching. It also assists the People Advisory team to prioritise queries and participates in projects contributing to people strategic priorities and transforming service delivery.

Your high-level duties
  • Provide consistent, high-quality people advice and coaching across the employee lifecycle, including probation, flexible work, performance management and conduct matters.
  • Receive, triage and respond to complex queries via the Service Delivery Tool, escalate or seek guidance where appropriate, and maintain accurate records in line with privacy requirements.
  • Support the Team Leader in monitoring service requests, balancing workloads, and contributing to improvements in People Advisory processes and services.
  • Develop and maintain systems and operational support for centralised People initiatives, including cyclical services, organisational change activities, redeployment and site transitions.
  • Interpret and advise on the CSIRO Enterprise Agreement, policies, and procedures to guide staff and leaders in managing people matters.
  • Coordinate organisation-wide processes such as Rewards and Promotions, ensuring compliance and fairness.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders, work collaboratively within a dispersed team, and uphold CSIRO\'s values, confidentiality and integrity.
  • Contribute to projects and process improvements under direction, adapting to changing requirements and supporting broader objectives.
Role particulars
  • Location and office arrangements: Clayton, Pullenvale preferred
  • Salary: AU$73k – AU$93k per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation
  • Tenure & work schedule: Specified term 12 months, Full time

Essential Criteria
  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Human Resource Management, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a generalist HR advisory role across the employment lifecycle with consistent, accurate delivery.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritise, and understanding of risk and escalation.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a collaborative and agile working style.
  • Proven high standard of written and verbal communication skills for professional collaboration.
  • Motivated, resilient team player who is collaborative and adaptable to changing requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to new technological platforms and assist others to adopt them.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards in a collaborative environment.
