Kununurra, Australia Department of Education, Western Australia Full time

The Role

Lead School Psychologist, provide professional leadership and support to a team of school psychologists across the Kimberley region, based in Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing and Kununurra. The team includes graduate (provisional) and experienced psychologists. You will work with the other Lead School Psychologist to develop the team and lead professional development and practice standards. Travel within and external to the region will be required. The ability to provide Psychology Board of Australia (Board) approved supervision would be advantageous.

You will provide leadership and access to professional support and learning for all school psychologists, including ensuring professional supervision for provisionally registered psychologists to achieve the standards in the Competency Framework for School Psychologists.

The role ensures the quality of all school psychologists' practice meets professional standards and leads in contemporary psychological practices. Broad experience across mental health, learning, behavior and disability is required. You will provide direct advice to the Director of Education, principals and the system on complex issues and incident management.

Advanced Skills School Psychologist (ASSP) status is required for permanent appointment to a Lead School Psychologist position. Candidates with and without ASSP status are encouraged to apply. If no suitable ASSP candidate is identified, a candidate without ASSP status may be considered for a 12-month fixed-term period.

Candidates with ASSP status who are eligible for permanent appointment may negotiate for a three-year placement, returning to your substantive Department of Education role at the end of the term. This arrangement requires line-manager approval.
