You will be a part of a small team of 3 people, embedded in a larger production team; utilising the same facilities and test equipment. The ES Service and Support team is located in Redbank, QLD. We are responsible for the upgrade and maintenance of mission electronics systems across the fleet of Rheinmetall vehicles used by the Australian Military. As an agile and specialist team we are often called upon by the wider business to perform adhoc repairs or investigations of electronics parts to support engineering functions in their design or investigation work.

About The Role

The Service and Support Technician is responsible for ensuring the service (maintenance, troubleshooting and rework) of Electronics Equipment at the Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) site. You will be an integral part of the global integrated team within Electronic Solutions at Rheinmetall Defence to manage the program execution of the LAND 400 Phase 2 Contract with the Commonwealth of Australia and assist with the capture of export markets in the Asia Pacific region.

The general and generic duties of the Service and Support Technician include, but not limited to:

• Independent fault finding and troubleshooting (electrical, mechanical, optical) on complex electronic systems;
• Maintenance of Rheinmetall designed components;
• Documentation of conducted work packages;
• Ensuring compliance and adherence to Rheinmetall Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
• Communication with multiple and varied engineering authorities for repairs;
• Support in developing solutions for mechanical/electrical/optical issues;
• Assist in creation of maintenance and support concepts;
• Advise management regarding technical issues and further development areas;
• Conduct software integration or updates on component or system Level; and
• Support in creating calculation and breakdowns for offers.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

• Cert IV in Electronics or Avionics fields;
• Extensive experience in Electronics/ Optics Production or service environment;
• Worked in Defence or Defence Industry;
• Experience in the use of electrical/optical test equipment;
• Understands generic electrical architecture (AC/DC), system integration (Analogue and Digital) and Defence electronics systems.
• Resilient in working under pressure and to tight deadlines;
• Extensively used Microsoft Office products;
• Ability and willingness to conduct business trips on request;
• The ability to relate generic electronics knowledge to unfamiliar systems for troubleshooting and repair;
• Ability to write work instructions; and
• Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
