Grove Capital is a leading transport provider of modular and relocatable building solutions across Victoria and the eastern seaboard. We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver high-quality, timely, and safe transport services using our specialised fleet of drop deck trailers and crane trucks. With a strong focus on operational excellence, compliance, and business growth, we are now seeking a seasoned transport professional to lead and evolve our logistics operations.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Head of Transport to oversee and lead all aspects of our transport operations. This role is critical to the continued success and growth of the Grove Capital business, managing the safe and efficient movement of our fleet of modular buildings, ensuring compliance with national transport regulations, and driving external revenue opportunities.
You will be responsible for leading a team, managing a specialised fleet, ensuring strict adherence to Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, and growing the division through systemisation and increased capabilities. You must bring a proven track record of managing complex heavy transport operations, particularly those involving over-dimensional (over-width and over-height) loads with familiarity of working alongside NHVR regulations and integrating external subcontractors in the form of cranes, pilots, spotters, traffic management and other support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and optimise the performance of the Grove transport division.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the transport fleet, including asset utilisation, asset standards and presentation and operational capability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, particularly CoR and NHVR regulations.
- Strategically plan and execute the safe transport of modular and relocatable buildings throughout Victoria and the eastern seaboard.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of external transport opportunities to reduce reliance on intra-company revenue.
- Develop and implement systems, processes, and technology to improve fleet efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Cultivate industry relationships and networks to enable new business development and diversification.
- Drive a safety-first culture throughout the transport team.
- Prepare and manage transport budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting.
- Provide high-level leadership to operational staff, including recruitment, development, and retention.
- Work closely with the CEO to align transport strategy with broader business objectives.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' experience in transport operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive experience managing large fleets, with specific expertise in over-dimensional (over-width and over-height) transport.
- Deep understanding of Australian transport regulations, including Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and NHVR legislation.
- Strong commercial acumen and proven ability to generate new revenue streams outside of internal operations.
- Demonstrated capability in systemising and scaling transport operations for growth.
- Outstanding leadership and team management skills, with a hands-on and solutions-focused approach.
- High level of autonomy, initiative, and accountability.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry certifications (desirable).
