Salary Academic Level B ($115,303 - $136,925 p.a.) or Level C ($141,247 - $162,872 p.a.) + 17% Superannuation

Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About the Roles

As the Lecturer, you will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School in disciplines related to your field of expertise. You are responsible for teaching activities within undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing your scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. You will promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will work collaboratively with fellow academics, update colleagues and students on developments in your subject area, and may be responsible for course coordination.

As the Senior Lecturer, you will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School. You will deliver programs, be involved in research, consulting and other professional activities, lead high quality research projects, attract research funding, and develop networks with internal and external partners. You may have responsibility for program management.

Level B – Key Selection Criteria

• Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs in micro-nano electronics and developing next-generation brain-inspired sensors and processing systems and related areas, evidenced by publications, new research initiatives, competitive funding, and industry links.
• Ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in electronic, embedded systems and computer engineering, including online delivery; ability to produce high-quality curriculum or program materials.
• Ability to undertake course coordination.
• Capacity to work effectively with and negotiate with students on issues related to effective learning.
• Ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.
• Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through liaison with industry and government.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills for interacting with research candidates, staff and industry; commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Mandatory Qualifications: PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience

Level C – Key Selection Criteria

• Emerging nationally recognised research track record in micro-nano electronics and developing next-generation brain-inspired sensors and processing systems; substantial record of research outputs in high-quality outlets.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and teach large courses in electronic, embedded systems and computer engineering; deliver programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with high-quality curriculum; implement innovative student-centered learning and quality improvement.
• Ability to manage a large program or multiple programs.
• Demonstrated ability to support student issues related to effective learning.
• Experience in research leadership with the ability to build and develop collaborative research teams, mentor staff, attract external funding, and manage funded projects with budgets and reporting requirements.
• Extensive experience supervising higher degree by research candidates.
• Demonstrated ability to manage academic program teams and support scholarly development of less experienced staff.
• Understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within a university.
• High level interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills with senior executives and external bodies; ability to produce executive reports and negotiate directions and targets in a collaborative environment.
• Mandatory Qualifications: PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience

Offshore teaching programs are offered in Hong Kong and India. The department maintains industry partnerships across funded research, work-integrated learning, student placements and project co-supervision.
