About the role

This position reports to the Divisional Manager of Engineering Services and is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the Council's roads and infrastructure network.

Duties
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies to improve the road network.
  • Manage major road construction and renewal projects, including pavement rehabilitation, road construction, and concrete structures such as bridges, culverts, and footpaths.
  • Prioritize infrastructure needs and ensure effective project delivery.
  • Ensure all road and infrastructure works meet high standards, are within budget, and completed on schedule.
  • Attend council meetings, prepare reports, and advise senior management on projects and budgets.
Skills & experience
  • Relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing roads infrastructure maintenance and construction.
  • Experience working with local government.
  • Strong project management skills, especially with complex infrastructure projects.
  • Class C Driver's Licence.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial resources effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
