Mechanical Project Engineer – Major Capital Project

  • Long term contract opportunity

Our client, a leader in the Australian industrial manufacturing sector, is delivering a significant capital investment project to expand domestic production capabilities for coated steel products. This large-scale, multi-year project will be delivered in phases.

They are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) engineering packages across the project lifecycle – from feasibility and design through to construction and commissioning.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Supporting end-to-end SMP project delivery for a major manufacturing line installation
  • Leading design coordination, procurement and cost management for assigned packages
  • Contributing to HAZOP, CHAIR and safety-in-design workshops
  • Ensuring alignment between engineering, construction and commissioning teams
  • Interfacing with contractors, suppliers, consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Participating in site activities, including construction and commissioning phases

About You
  • Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years' experience in heavy industrial projects
  • Strong knowledge of Australian engineering standards, safety practices, and risk management
  • Proven experience managing packages of work through feasibility, design, delivery and handover
  • Comfortable working across brownfield and greenfield environments
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
