We are seeking a Sustainability and Climate Change Project Officer to join our Sustainability and Climate Group, Strategy and Engagement Division.

Remuneration & Hours:

  • Reward and Recognition Program
  • Base salary range of $79,426 to $96,850, plus superannuation, depending on experience.

The Opportunity

As the Sustainability and Climate Change Project Officer, you will support the development and delivery of policies and strategic initiatives within Hunter Water's sustainability and climate programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop evidence-based policies and strategic plans, including research, stakeholder consultation, and managing external service providers.
  • Prepare strategic advice, reports, and information to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure a whole-of-business approach.
  • Manage contracts with consultants.
  • Develop and implement engagement programs with customers, communities, and stakeholders.
  • Monitor external environmental and policy developments to identify opportunities and risks.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in sustainability, climate science, environmental science, environmental management, engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of urban water policies and issues.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in policy development, consultation, and strategic planning processes.
  • Understanding of legislative and policy frameworks related to climate and sustainability in urban water services.
